BBA - School Board Powers and Duties

Teachers shall be employed annually in the manner provided by law.

All teachers employed by the Waterville Board of Education shall hold appropriate certification.

All teachers employed shall be considered on continuing contract after a probationary period of three (3).

FINANCES

Acting in accordance with the appropriation made by the City Council for the School Department, the Board shall adopt a budget at the earliest possible meeting after the appropriation has been made.

All debits against the budget shall be made only upon the monthly roll of accounts passed by the Board.

All orders for supplies shall be issued through the Superintendent’s office and in all cases purchase orders shall be issued.

No employee shall be permitted to make purchases for the schools unless a purchase order is first issued by the Superintendent of Schools.

All bills contracted by any committee shall be approved by the Chairperson of that committee before submission to the Committee on Finance.
